Inconvenience

Last night we had our weekly Monday night prayer gathering. It was good. There is always prayer, but there is so much more. I love being with people and hearing their stories.

Ryan was sharing about the young lady they have living with them right now. She is going through a rough separation with her husband and Ryan and Jenn have brought her into their home. I was commenting that I don't know how I would do with someone living with us. His comment knocked the wind right out of me. Ryan responded, "If we can be a part of one person coming to Christ, then it is worth any inconvenience we may go through." The truth is that this young lady has already made comments about their home and the life they lead in private. She mentioned that it has been good to see a loving home. Ryan was quick to point out that he doesn't feel that is always the case. Isn't it just like Jesus to use what we see as imperfect to paint a picture of His love to someone who is looking for that very thing.

What a heart for people. I am not saying that all of us have to go take people in to our homes, but what if we all set the notion of inconvenience to the side. What if we erased the idea from our bank of emotions and experiences. What if there were no inconveniences just opportunities.

Thanks Ryan for opening my eyes a little more last night.
