Coffee House Review

OK, this one will be a little unusual. I do not plan on regularly reviewing any Starbucks. It's a lot like McDonald's, once you have been to one you have basically been to all of them. This is Starbucks, our coffee McDonald's. Right down to the machines and cookie cutter stores. So now that I got that off my chest, I want to tell you about a unique Starbucks which is new to our area.

Redmond towncenter opened the new Starbucks across the parking lot from Claim Jumper, by the Cingular building. We visited on their opening day, December 9th. This is a unique store unlike the typical Northwest stores. We talked with the workers about the layout, colors and furniture. The colors are bright, not warm like we are used to, the furniture modern and cold made from metal, plastic and vinyl.


There is only one other store with this patten, it is in New York City. If you feel like you are a hipster New York fashion kind of person, then you will love this store. It is unique and has a fun feel. But, if you are more comfortable with the standard northwest dark tones, fireplaces and exposed lumber then you may want to stick to your neighborhood McD... I mean Starbucks.

I will not use the cup scale for this one because the one thing Bucks has going for them is consistency.

Ambiance similar although cold
Wi-Fi - still a ripoff
Conversability - standard
Readability - typical
Coolness - if you are in to NY style it is cool, otherwise uncomfortable

You should check it out at least once, and if you walk in a get the shakes, just walk to the center of the mall for the good ol fashioned layout and style.
