Observation #3 - You need God more than you need money.
This one seems like a no-brainer. Any pastor worth anything would say, "we need God more than we need money." but it is interesting how as a church planter it is easy to seek money first and God second.
The truth is, big dreams cost big money.
If you want to talk to a group of people you need a microphone. You need to plug the mic into something using a cable. You need speakers. On top of that, crappy gear sounds crappy. All of this costs money and I am assuming you have already paid rent for the location you plan to meet. I could go on and on and on, but I won't. It is just the plain simple truth, it costs money to start a church.
Very quickly our passion to seek the face of God gets overwhelmed with our need to finance the dream.
Remaining intimate with Jesus is absolutely essential to the mission.
You need the money. But you need Jesus more. I have and have heard too many stories of the right ask at the right time as a result of spending time with Jesus. I also have and have heard the disappointing stories of the wrong ask at the wrong time with bad results because we thought we needed money more than Jesus.
At the end of the day, you will need to raise money. But trust me, you need God more than you need the money.
Keep Jesus at the center.
