Picked this Up

Picked up this special edition of U.S. News and World Report the other day. Looked interesting. I am curious to see how Joseph Smith and Muhammad are discussed in contrast to Biblical prophets.

The cover says plenty, it shows Jesus as a prophet when he is truly Prophet, High Priest, and King.

In Jesus own words, as he rebuked Peter, Satan is not mindful of the things of God. MK8:33

Let us remember we who are called by His name should have signs and wonders following us. These were the last things that Jesus told His followers before He returned to Heaven MK16:17-19 These things should not be mysteries of the TRUE faith.

Just curious, what is your take on the first half of verse 18 in the Mark passage?

Well I'm gonna start with the litteral on that one, I am headed to Africa in March and no telling what I will run into. Should the situation arrise I will be confident in the full faith that I will walk victorious in Jesus Christ's name.

Beyond that I would say it points toward persicution of the Christians, both past, present, and future. That those that would intend harm by thier actions will be rebuffed, taken and cast aside.

Satan himself was also called 'serpent' in scripture so the reference could be an extension of verse 17 in regards to unclean spirits.

I will also say that i do not believe that this scripture is talking about 'snake handeling' as a form of ???worship??? 2Kings 18:4 Tells of how Hezekiah broke up the brasen serpent of Moses because incense was being offered before it.

Well that's it, I would also say that my earlier remarks are solely based on the cover photo there as I did not read any portion of the article. I might have been jumping to conclusions so if I am off target, then accept my apologies.
