The retreat this weekend was for the student ministries. What a good trip. Many stories of young people experiencing God. The story that I would like to share with you today is of a different nature.
Friday night Jireh and I were in line for the traditional after service "burger" (term used very loosely) at the snack shack. While waiting there we noticed a sign up sheet on the wall for the Dodgeball tournament to be played on Saturday. Half jokingly, we decided to sign up the band. As we shared our secret with the band later the group actually got pretty excited.
Long story short, we won the tournament losing only one game in the two out of three championship round. A TRUE CINDARELLA STORY!
The MVP moment of the tournament came in the first game of the championship as we lined up for starting call. Aaron, geared up in good shoes and warm up pants readied himself on the base line. When the start was called he bolted out of the gates, accidentally grabbing the seam of his pants with his right thumb. Because of the handy, dandy snaps down both sides of the legs, he was able to almost completely remove them by the time he got to the center to grab a ball. The guy still kept going for the ball!! What a hero. Anyway, the game came to a complete stop as Aaron grabbed his pants and we all huddled around him so he could snap them back on. That experience will go down in the books.
