Philippians 2:14-16
14Do everything readily and cheerfully--no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! 15Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night 16so I'll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You'll be living proof that I didn't go to all this work for nothing.
(Philippians 2)
Read through these comments from Paul a couple times. Let them sink in. Let them stir your spirit. A couple things really spoke to me when I read this.
Paul speaks to your influence in the lives of those people you interact with daily. God is working in you and He will use that to reveal himself to the people you engage. I believe that for too many years we have seen "evangelism" as handing out pamphlets and walking through a four point explanation of the gospel message, which concludes with the climactic decision on the spot to hand over everything to a person we just met. This method is usually coupled with a promise that life will instantaneously get better, all problems with magically disappear!
When I read all the stuff that Paul had to write I definitely see that there is a time and place to declare who Jesus is and implore people to surrender to and follow him. To say "I object, no, I strenuously object" to a worldly lifestyle and call people to explore a godly lifestyle. (shameless Few Good Men plug there)
What if we were to follow these simple instructions from Paul:
To be "...a breath of fresh air." "Provide people with a glimpse of good living..." "Provide people with a glimpse of...the living God."
Man, doesn't that just get your blood pumping!! God will reveal who he is to people through you! When we truly follow Jesus, I mean sincerely tell him "Jesus, all I am is yours. I will do whatever you want, whenever you want, where ever you want." stuff starts to happen. AND PEOPLE SEE IT!
Go be it!
Be encouraging in a world that is discouraging. Be loving in a world that is so deeply selfish. Be generous in a world that is self-serving. Be forgiving and merciful in a world that holds grudges and keeps a record of wrongs.
Live your life to full! Take advantage of today! Tomorrow is not promised.
Ok, that's it, I'm done for now.

You're right... this is an incredible passage. Here's a shameless plug: check out what we did with that passage last month at http://www.cedarpark.org/thechapel/services
