Your Story

Today was my day off. I spent the morning nursing a really sucky headache. By noon I felt better and thought I would go get nine holes of golf in before Tanya got off work. I picked a course close to my place which was certain to be slow enough to walk on. I pull in the parking lot, get out of the car and no wallet. I had left it in my pants from yesterday. How lame is that?

Please forgive this cheesy application, but I actually thought of this as I was driving home.

So many times we anticipate the opportunity to tell someone why we follow Jesus. We think about it, plan for it and look for opportnities. Once the perfect moment comes, we feel unprepared and so not ready to take that step. The relationship that is so natural to us becomes so unnatural to talk about. The bible says to be prepared to give a reason for your faith. I think too often we interpret this as being prepared to give a doctoral explanation of our theological position, totally missing the point. Every one of us can remember the moment Jesus spoke, breathing life into our souls. When the Samaritan woman ran from the well back to her village, she did not recite her doctrinal position in a five point acronymn. She simply said, "he knew everything about me." What did Jesus say to you which caused you to believe? That's your story.

There is something mysterious and divine about the way Jesus chooses to speak to us.

Tell your story.
