To Waterski or Not to Waterski

This has been an interesting summer for me. I have spent more time IN the water than I have in years. Although I have spent less time ON than I have in years. Which brings me to a wacky dichotomy of emotion, joy and sorrow mixed in the same pot. Like oil and vinigar in a dipping dish at your local trattoria.

I have been in the water swimming, training for a triathlon next week. I swam competitively as a kid so there were vague memories of coaches and technique that had been taught to me many years ago. But, I was shocked when I dove in the lake the first time to make some distance and just about killed myself trying to swim. I could not get myself to breathe while I was swimming. So I had to go back to square one and swim slow and work on breathing and simple technique.

I have been on my ski ONCE. For those who know me, you know this is a huge shock to my system. I love to ski more than any other non-family activity. I did manage to match my personal best in the slolam course the one time I did get out. Thanks to my buddy Allan Skoog for the tow.

The tri training has been so benefitial on many levels. Pounds dropped, inches shaved off my body, notches further in the belt and simple stuff like climbing stairs without getting winded.

It has been a good summer.

Josh,
you are really looking good too. I couldn't beleive the difference from when I saw you in April to the pictures you guys had done last week. You are really getting in good shape.

A triathalon, wow! Keep us posted.
