Earl Creps puts out a monthly e-news letter, from the Doctor of Ministry program at AGTS, which he concludes with the phrase: "Be a leader worth following."
For some reason, the last time I read this it hit me like a "two ton heavy thing" (see Queensryche CD: Empire). As a pastor this is something that I strive for and dedicate prayer and study too as well.
I think the phrase holds such potency at this time because I have been experiencing a strong burden for our leaders and the men of our church. As we are leading others toward Jesus, it can be so easy to get misled ourselves. We often stop following Jesus and in His place we follow culture and the popular leadership gurus of the day.
I am following Him with the desire of being a leader worth following.
