I was sitting by the front window at Kahili in downtown Kirkland when a guy walked by on the sidewalk. It was one of those moments where I knew that I knew him but I could not remember where I knew him from. He walked in and was at the counter ordering a drink so I took the opportunity to go grab a glass of water. Once he caught me starring at him I took the plunge and asked, "Are you from Anchorage?" He said he was. I knew his name was Tom but I didn't know why. I should also tell you that I am reading "The Bourne Identity" right now and so it was a little freaky.
Anyway, it turns out he ran the music section at the book store I always went to way back in High School. We have a bunch of mutual friends and talked frequently when I was in the store. It was about 13 years ago that I saw Tom the last time.
So we grabbed a table and caught up. It was really cool. He lives in Seattle and has been here for three years. He has been attending All Saints Church in Seattle which is pastored by a guy I know and we know many of the same people in the church. He works for a record distributor and travels a lot.
Can you believe that! Thirteen years and all these miles.
