So I went to the gathering of emerging/young leaders and our district leadership. It was a good meeting overall. Our superintendent recently made a video of conversations with four generation groups: builders, boomers, x'ers and millennials. He asked each group questions about church and culture. It was very interesting. Not too surprising, but fun to watch.
After the video we had discussion around our tables. Tables mixed with senior leaders, church planters, youth pastors and other associates. More than the conversation itself, I was interested in the fact that we are having a conversation. The idea that I am sitting with one of our leaders having a sincere, honest conversation about my perspective on faith and the future of the church is awesome. It does feel as though we go around the loop a number of times in the conversation, looking at the same houses over and over. At least we are in the car together, sharing the growth experience. By this, I am encouraged.
I do look forward to seeing where these conversations lead.
