Caffe Coccinella - Bellevue

Caffe Coccinella - Tile floors and a blend of warm and cold make this an interesting yet not quite there yet coffee house. It seems as though in the world of coffee there are two main streams of feel; warm, dark colors which inspire reading, study and meaningful conversation or cool, bright colors which attempt to perk you up and get you moving. Cafee Coccinella is an odd combination of the two. Dark wood and bright green and orange drapes contrast each other in a Beavis meets Doogie Howser clash. The tile floor and smaller rooms make conversation a public sound track. If you like a milder and sweeter coffee drink you will love this place. The coffee is neither good nor bad, it is just there, but it carries the smooth sweet flavor of a good after dinner desert drink rather than a stout get you going in the morning coffee. I had my traditional vanilla latte which came with two chocolate beans (reminds me of the old days Seattle's Best) on the side of the saucer. Keep in mind though that they only accept cash and check, so the ease of using your card is out the window. For me, a non cash carrying guy, this was lame. I had to run down the street and grab some cash.

If you are in Bellevue and want to get away from the 30 Starbucks options, check out Cafe Coccinella. As always free wi-fi.

Overall a decent place. I would not add it to the regular stop list.

Is it 1-4 cups?

Keep the coffee shop ratings coming, these are great! I live in Lynnwood and my girlfriend lives in Kirkland and we're always looking for new coffeeshop locals to do some writing and/or reading.

Scott - it is a five cup system. The fifth cup is reserved for the 1 in 100 type places. The wi-fi was not 108Mbps so I could nto in good conscience give it a five.
