Tonight was our first session with Earl Creps. He is a great communicator and very engaging speaker. The theme of the retreat is "Communicating", so tonight he kicked it off with communicating to non-Christians. The purpose of his talk was to demonstrate a narative preaching style, primarily directed toward a group of non-believers. I enjoyed the talk, although there were some aspects which didnt really do it for me. He has given this talk a number of times, which gave it the feel of a scripted theatrical monologue rather than a natural organic discussion of his spiritual journey.
Earl is very passionate about communicating with people who dont know Christ and I got a ton out of what he had to say tonight. I am looking forward to see what he will be talking about tomorrow.
We did get in some bowling after the session. The alley here is unique to say the least. We talked about heading back over to play some pool tomorrow night. I will get a picture of it for you. The old pins, chewed up bowling balls and the hanging smell of smoke gave it character you can't buy. Over on the south wall you have the Oceans Shores Bowling Hall of Fame. Man, to be in that group, what an honor.

The most exciting event of the bowling trip was Pete consuming the bowling alley nachos. Complete with a super orange fake cheese sauce. Man, why is that stuff so orange? Have they not see real cheese before?
Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow.
